Janice G. Plourde

AUBURN – Janice G. Plourde, 84, passed away on June 17, 2022, at Androscoggin Hospice House. She was born in Lewiston, Maine on July 19, 1937 to Jules and Berndette Gourdreau. Janice was married to the late Alfred Plourde, former Mayor of Lewiston, Maine, who passed on March 12, 1990. She started her career in education as a fourth grade teacher at Martel School. Later, she became the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Lewiston Public Schools and was the Administrator of Grant Programs for the department until her retirement. After her retirement, she continued her education, taking courses at the University of Maine, as she was committed to being a life-long learner. She had a passion for the arts and pursued painting, as well as enjoying luncheons with her friends. Jancie is survived by her son, David, and his wife, Jill, as well as her daughter, Julie, and her grandchildren, Sarah and Benjamin. Services will be held on Friday, June 24, at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visiting with family will be from 8:30 – 9 a.m., with services commencing at 9 a.m. The family requests that those who want to express sympathy consider making a donation to the Special Olympics of Maine.
