WOODSTOCK — A 22-year-old woman was in a Portland hospital Thursday night after her car collided with a wrecker on South Main Street just before noon.

Oxford County Sheriff’s officials said Kaiya Corriveau had been driving south on South Main Street when she attempted to make a left turn onto Andrews Road, at which time her Honda Civic was struck by the flatbed wrecker, traveling in the opposite direction.

The wrecker, a Dodge Ram, is owned by Adley’s Wrecker Service and was driven by 47-year-old Jonathan Merchant of Rumford.

Merchant was treated for minor injuries and later released, police said. Corriveau was taken by LifeFlight helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland.

A section of South Main Street was closed to traffic as police investigated, but the road was reopened before 5 p.m.

Bethel and Woodstock fire and rescue crews assisted at the scene. Sheriff’s deputies were assisted by Maine State Police.
