DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a canister of Similac 360 Total Care to give away. My grandson and his wife left it because they couldn’t put it in their suitcase. The expiration date is Jan. 4, 2023. Please contact me at 241-0750. — Monique, Lewiston

ANSWER: That’s kind of you, considering the baby formula shortage. If no one claims it, perhaps a local food bank can use it.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Notice of our church supper has been submitted to the Sun Journal Events Calendar, but it seems that not everyone finds our notices there. Since everyone reads Sun Spots, we appreciate your help in promoting our fundraiser.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Regarding the June 22 Sun Spots where a reader was looking for someone to fix her brick steps, I also had a problem getting a mason. I found Jason of Jason Hodsdon Masonry in North Monmouth. He was a good worker and charged a fair price.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Here’s a great recipe for Honey Pie, very similar to pecan pie, that is easy and delicious. Heat oven to 325 degrees. In a saucepan, bring 1 cup honey to a boil then quickly mix in 3 beaten eggs. Add 3 tablespoons melted butter, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, 1 cup chopped pecans or walnuts, and a dash of nutmeg.

Pour into a 9-inch unbaked pie shell or  graham cracker crust. Bake for 25 minutes, or until filling is set. Makes 6 to 8 servings. Serve plain or with vanilla ice cream, Cool Whip, or whipped cream. — David, Poland Spring

ANSWER: Wow, does that ever sound decadent! I can’t wait to try it — and surely honey is healthier and better-tasting than corn syrup. Sharing recipes in Sun Spots is one of my favorite things!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Because I hurt my back, I haven’t been able to mow my lawn. Recently, the young man who mows my neighbor’s yard asked if he could help me at “no charge” until I feel better.” My yard is small and it only takes him half an hour. He has been so kind and reliable, but he won’t accept any money. — No name, no town

ANSWER: Accept his gift and enjoy the kindness.
