DIXFIELD – Richard J. Haines, 86, died Wednesday June 29, 2022, at The Norway Center for Health and Rehabilitation. He was a resident of Main St., Dixfield.

Born in Rumford, Maine, on Sept. 26, 1935. He was the son of Virgil H. Haines and Beulah Ellis. He was a graduate of Dixfield High School and served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1957 and also served in the National Guard. Later on, he worked for many years as a machine operator for Diamond Match and he also worked for Forsters and the Rumford Hospital.

Richard was married in Rumford, Maine to Nancy Bell in 1997, who survives him.

Other survivors include two sons: Joseph and wife Janet of Raymond, N.H.; James and his wife Sara of Portland, two daughters: Karen Welch and her husband Chuck of Mexico; Jean Fochler and her husband Rick of Yarmouth, daughter-in-law, Kelli Haines of Rollingsford, N.H., stepchildren include Leslie, Joan, Bonney, Rick, Greg and Kim, a brother Frank and favorite nice Jill.

Richard was predeceased by a son, Kevin Haines, a step son, Jack, and a stepdaughter Joanne.

Graveside services will be held 9 a.m., Monday July 11, 2022, at the Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, Maine. Arrangements are under the direction of the Meader & Son Funeral Home 3 Franklin St., Rumford.
