Creation Completed

NORWAY — The Norway Maine Opera House is proud to announce the return of Creation Completed for another street dance on Saturday, August 20 from 6:30-9:30, with a rain date of Friday, August 26. The dance will take place at Longley Square park, across from the Opera House. Admission is free, but donations of any denomination are welcome! Tours of the second and third floors of the Opera House will take place at 5:30 p.m. Creation Completed, featuring former Oxford Hills students Alan Bean, Karan Shaw Bracy, Billy Holden, Annie Somers, and Andy Whitney, with Tom Chandel and Mark Perakslis, performed in the Opera House when they were in high
school. The band plays 60s and early 70s rock, including tunes from Steppenwolf, The Animals, The Temptations, The Beatles, the Doors and more…

Following the successful renovation of the retail space on the first floor, the NMOHC Board of Directors set its sights on the project’s next phase. During the past year, the board hired consultants to assist with the creation of a business plan that will lay the foundation for the launch of a future capital campaign. They also launched a new website and engaged an architect and engineer to update documents for roof replacement and back wall repairs with proceeds from a grant.

While the entire project is slated to cost approximately 8 million dollars, some of which will be offset by historic tax credits, our priority is replacing the roof, repairing the back wall, and replacing the damaged trusses. The first 1.2 million dollars of the total would be utilized for this project, allowing us to remove a support structure within the space so we may stage future fundraising events on the Opera House Stage.

Come down early to shop, have dinner at one of the local eateries, and join us for a family evening of fun.
