I was privileged to know and work with Peggy Rotundo.

Peggy is not only one of Lewiston’s most historically important elected officials, but she is also one of the most honest and genuine human beings I know. These qualities enabled her to represent this city in state legislative leadership capacities that rival many in Maine’s political history.

Following her first term in the Senate, she was appointed to the powerful Appropriations Committee in 2003 and became chair in 2005. She would serve as chair for four of her seven committee terms (Louis Jalbert spent 19 years on Appropriations but was never chair).

During this time, her work ethic and collaborative demeanor produced legislation and budgets beneficial to Maine and Lewiston. She was instrumental in Bates College’s transition as a community partner and served on multiple local boards and committees.

Now, more than ever, let’s support Peggy’s return to the state Senate.
