SKOWHEGAN — An early morning fire destroyed an unoccupied mobile home Sunday on Dartmouth Street.

The cause of the fire at 13 Dartmouth St. is under investigation by the Office of State Fire Marshal.

Skowhegan Fire Capt. Rick Caldwell said firefighters responded to the report of a structure fire at 3:28 a.m. Sunday. The fire was initially reported to be at 20 Dartmouth St. but firefighters located the fire, instead, at 13 Dartmouth.

Caldwell said the mobile home was unoccupied at the time of the blaze and he did not think anyone had been living there.

The home was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived and the structure was a total loss, Caldwell said.

Firefighters from Norridgewock, Canaan, Clinton, Cornville, Fairfield and Madison responded to the scene and Waterville firefighters responded as a rapid intervention team, for backup.

Skowhegan tax records indicate the property is owned by Steven and Karen Trottier.

Where and how the fire started is still under investigation.

No firefighters were injured while fighting the blaze. They were on the scene until around 6:30 a.m.

The flames were contained to that one structure.
