Q&A

Define what “success” would look like if you are elected to serve your district.
I take the responsibility of public service very seriously, and success in office would mean that I am accessible to constituents and responsive to their inquiries and comments. Being a voice for constituents means that I need to know what people are thinking to better represent them, so it is important to listen to people, understand their concerns, and respond appropriately.

I want to serve on committees where my experience and background in financial management and organizational development are meaningful.

Success means using common sense when making decisions that affect people’s lives. This includes balancing the concerns and views of different constituencies. It also means being flexible and agile to accommodate changing conditions and responding to unplanned or emerging issues.

It will be important to build a measure of trust between myself and other legislators as well as constituents. I will be successful if those who are affected by a proposed bill are included in the process of developing that bill and I serve as an advocate on behalf of my constituents.

I believe in inclusion, which means that proposed legislation will be debated and considered through an equity lens. Success also means that while I am in office, human, civil, and voting rights will be respected and preserved. Success means putting people first.

Characterize your view on public access to governmental business.
Public access means ensuring citizens can easily vote, find information about rules and laws, and receive timely responses from their representatives at the local, state, and federal levels, including responses to FOIA/FOAA requests. I will be accessible and responsive to constituents’ needs, comments, and questions.
