To the Editor:

The Bethel Outing Club Ski Sale is just around the corner. It will be held Friday, October 28, from 6 to 9 p.m. and Saturday, October 29, from 9 a.m. to Noon at the Gould Academy Field House in Bethel. There will be a range of alpine, snowboarding and cross country ski equipment from which to choose.

Ski shops from around Northern New England will be there to sell skis, snowboards, boots, poles, helmets and other skiing accessories. You also may find a great deal in the used gear section where local skiers/snowboarders sell equipment that is in good condition.

Local skiers and snowboarders – this is where we need your help. Could you go into your garages, attics and basements and pull out equipment that is still in good shape (not obsolete), but no longer used by you or your kids? Dust it off and try selling it at the BOC Ski Sale. Having affordable equipment that is in good condition is an important part of being able to make skiing accessible to more people in the community.

With local kids being able to get free season passes at both Sunday River and Mount Abram, through the efforts of the River Fund and Friends of Mt. Abram, we would love to help local kids find equipment. Please consider pricing your used gear reasonably. You may also donate your gear that does not sell at the sale to the BOC and we will try to get it in the hands of local kids who are participating in these programs.

Beginning on Saturday, Oct. 1, if you are interested in selling used gear, you can pick up instructions, inventory sheets and tags at the Bethel Area Chamber of Commerce or at True North Adventureware during its regular business hours. The first four tags are free and then are 25 cents a piece after the fourth. You may also purchase tags on the day of the sale, from 3 to 6pm, but tags are $1 each those days.

To find out more about selling used gear, please visit bethelouting.org/Ski-Sale. You can also sign up to volunteer at this event by going to the same link. Volunteers get first dibs on ski sale items just before the sale opens.

We hope to see you at the BOC Ski Sale on Oct. 28 and 29. It is a great way to visit with friends, find new equipment and celebrate the start of a new ski season!
