To the Editor:

On Saturday, September 17, the air was crisp and filled with smells of hay, hamburgers, and happiness on the common during Bethel Harvestfest. We here at the Bethel Area Chamber owe thanks to everyone who helped make this day possible.

The list of volunteers who deserve our eternal gratitude includes Luke Angevine, Lisa Marston, Chip Calderwood, Dakota Hart, Jim Graley, Abby Borron, Derek & Jessica Dorr, Sonja Benson, Rachel Henderson, Jake Burgess, Reece Peirce, Eric Boyle-Wight, Sam Riley, Amanda Bachand, Anna Frost, Barb Dion, Lisa Keim, Chyanna Millett-Cordwell, Jay Keil, Gabe Perkins, and Chris and Cameron Wright. Several volunteers brought along friends whose names we didn’t catch – but we thank them, too.

Special thanks to the McCrum family of Sunday River Farms for donating hundreds of potatoes, and to Robin Bennett and The Sudbury Inn for baking them.

Apple pie contest winners were Sarah Southam (amateur traditional), Janet Black (amateur nontraditional), and Jeffrey Girovard (professional). Extra thanks to Brian Inkell from Androscoggin Valley Hospital for providing several trays of crisp. Seth Ferris and Lloyd Sweetser had the challenging positions of judging the contest.

The many sponsors & organizations who helped make this all possible included: Hancock Lumber, Allen’s Coffee Flavored Brandy, Northeast Bank, Bennett Automotive & Power Equipment, Stephens Memorial Hospital, the Sudbury Inn, Bethel Historical Society, SAD #44, Jobs for Maine’s Graduates, Swain’s Family Farm, Good Food Store & Catering Co., Smokin’ Good BBQ, WOXO, Casella, BAAM, Inn at the Rostay.

It was wonderful to see our community pull together many businesses and individuals to make this tradition happen. Once again, thank you.
