DEAR SUN SPOTS: It’s rummage sale time at St. Catherine of Sienna Church in Norway. On Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9 to 11:30 a.m., there will be new-to-you clothes for the family, or household items and linens at prices that won’t break the budget. At 11 a.m. people can fill a bag for $1. It’s surprising what one can find at our rummage sales. Bring your own bags. — Sandy, Norway
ANSWER: This sounds like a great deal! St. Catherine of Sienna Church is at 32 Paris St. in Norway. I love this town! After the sale, explore the shops and eateries on Main Street. So lovely!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: There will be a cleanup/weeding/pruning day at the Lewiston High School Memorial Garden on Monday, Oct. 10, at 10 a.m.

Because the school will be closed for the holiday, if we cannot gain access to the school, those wishing to help can walk around the new wing to the back of the school. The garden is between the two main wings.

Volunteers should bring work gloves, hand tools, rakes, shovels, clippers, wheelbarrow, etc. if they have them. If not, we can still use your help. Anyone interested can show up between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

This would be a good time to check out the garden if you aren’t familiar with it. For more information, email jmsab23@aol.com. — Jon, no town

ANSWER: I hope you have a great day for it, with lots of good energy!

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m the adult services manager at the Auburn Public Library.  I responded to your reader’s (Lucy) request for computer help in the Sept. 29 Sun Spots column and wanted to make everyone aware that the Auburn Public Library is offering monthly digital literacy classes through a grant from the Public Library Association.

We also can help customers with specific requests by appointment only. Contact  the Reference Desk at 333-6640, ext. 4, or email dwallace@auburnpubliclibrary.org to register for a class or schedule an appointment. More details can be found here at https://tinyurl.com/2p9yhnsp.  — Donna, Auburn

ANSWER: Libraries are awesome, and oftentimes, there’s a lot more going on there than anyone could ever imagine.

In case you missed the Sept. 15 article in the Sun Journal, linked above, the Auburn Public Library at 49 Spring St. is among more than 160 public libraries nationwide awarded funding by the Public Library Association to conduct digital literacy workshops using Digitallearn.org resources. The library aids patrons with using these resources in workshops that are conducted in person in the second floor computer lab.

The first workshop Sept. 21 covered computer basics.

Every day at the APL Reference Desk, staff spend a significant amount of time providing some form of technology help, whether on library computers or with a customer’s personal laptop or other device. Patrons often ask about whether the library offers formal classes in digital literacy. This grant allows library staff to teach the necessary skills for its community members to succeed in a digital environment.

For a listing of all planned digital literacy workshops associated with this grant, visit auburnpubliclibrary.org or contact the library at the above email address or phone number.
