AREA — Buck’s Ledge Community Forest is a reality. The Town of Woodstock owns the entire 646 acres. Come to celebrate with the community at the Buck’s Ledge parking lot in Bryant Pond Saturday, October 15, 1 p.m.

The Telstar Middle School students in Melissa Prescott’s art class have a “Heart of the Forest” display which will be revealed at the ribbon cutting. In addition these students designed and built benches for along the trails. The Woodstock Highway Department has doubled the size of the Buck’s Ledge parking
lot. In order to keep the parking lot that day free of cars, people are asked to park at the Bryant Pond ballfield on Route 26 and will be shuttled to the parking lot.

The Woodstock Conservation Commission is also offering a guided hike to identify trees during the peak foliage season. Naturalist Paul Motts will lead this hike Saturday, October 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Buck’s Ledge Community Forest parking lot. He says, “ Nowhere else in the world is the array of autumn colors as striking as here in New England. Discover which trees are producing the splendid autumn colors.” This moderate hike will go up Lapham Ledge for a 2-mile round-trip.
