A seaplane apparently developed some mechanical trouble over Auburn early Wednesday night, however, it landed safely on the water of Taylor Pond. About 6:30 p.m., Dr. Warren E. Andrews, who has a summer residence at Taylor Pond, notified Auburn police that a plane containing three subjects had just made an unscheduled landing near his cottage. He said the plane docked at his landing.

A festive holiday atmosphere will welcome members of the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce to Business After Hours at Gooseberry Barn from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 23.
Gooseberry Barn is a three-time national award-winning gift shop owned by Harvey and Rachel Desgroseilliers. Located at 359 Minot Ave., it is celebrated as a premiere, preferred and showcase dealer of collectibles and decorative accessories. It ships gift items world-wide.
Chamber members will be treated to holiday hors d’oeuvres by Caron’s Catering and entertainment by violinist Erica Brown. They will have an opportunity to take a moonlight stroll, tour the gift shop and be eligible for gifts with a total value of up to $1,000.
Business After Hours is a free monthly program that provides chamber members to enjoy informal networking in a relaxed atmosphere.
