PARIS — The Board of Selectmen on Tuesday approved applying for a solar grant to supply power to a recreation building and install an electric vehicle charging station at 1 Paris Hill Road.

Once the project is completed, people can charge their vehicles for free. The project would not cost the town any money except for installation, which would be mostly covered by the grant.

The project is in addition to a grant application submitted by the town for the Police Station, and also includes charging stations.

In other business, the board appointed Samantha King as deputy town clerk. She formerly worked at the Cumberland County Dispatch Center.

The names of Ester Lane off Brett Hill Road and Kaye Lane off Route 119, also known as Halls Pond Road, were approved. The names were submitted by resident David Andrews.

Town Manager Dawn Noyes said absentee ballots are available at the Town Office for the Nov. 8 election.
