A 21-year-old Massachusetts man died Friday after losing control of his car on Interstate 95 north in Pittsfield.
Despite emergency medical aid efforts on scene, Ralph Desrosiers, of Wilmington, died from his injuries at the scene near Mile 145, Maine State Police said. Police had received several 911 calls reporting a single-vehicle crash at 3:54 p.m.
Police concluded Desrosiers was driving his gray 2009 Nissan Sentra in the right lane of traffic before losing control and veering off the left side of the highway and hitting a large tree in the median. The initial investigation suggests unsafe speed played a role in the crash.
That section of I-95 northbound was reduced to one lane for 2 hours as a result of the accident.
