DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am wondering: Now that Parade magazine is digital only, is it still part of our Sun Journal subscription? If so, is there a fee and how do we access it? It is disappointing because Parade and the B-section are my favorite sections of the Sunday newspaper.

Thank you, Ms. Sun Spots, for being our go-to with questions. I am a loyal fan—No name, Lewiston

ANSWER: This question was bounced over to our publisher, Jody Jalbert. She explained that the Sun Journal does not include the Parade epaper as part of any of the Sunday papers because there is a sizable fee to have it. Thus, there is no free option for our readers.

Solutions for this issue are on an upcoming meeting agenda because the Sun Journal’s circulation department has been hearing about this from readers. Options will be discussed, but for now, there is nothing free to offer. Hopefully, there will be a resolution soon.

I have asked I be kept in the loop so I can notify you and other Sun Spotters if or when the Parade epaper becomes available.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would like to donate some equipment I used after a fall that broke my knee. I have a pair of crutches, an adjustable knee brace and two knee immobilizers. I have tried calling physical therapy places, but no reply. I would hate to just trash them. If anyone can use them, please give me a call at 207-576-7201.—Cam, Auburn

ANSWER: I am sorry you had such a bad fall, Cam. I hope you are healed now and feeling right as rain once again.

If you do not hear from any Sun Spotters, Spurwink AllTech (www.spurwinkalltech.org/alltech-services/recycle-reuse-program) in Portland accepts this type of equipment. It is at 295 Forest Ave., Suite #4 and can be reached at 207-535-2017 or ALLTECHinfo@spurwink.org. There is also an online form on its website.

This program assists those who have no insurance, have reached their insurance cap for this type of equipment or simply wish to borrow or buy items.

The ALLTECH Recycle & Reuse Program makes the equipment available to consumers at a much-reduced cost or on loan for up to 21 days. Donors can contact ALLTECH to discuss the criteria for acceptable equipment and arrangements for transfer. They may also request a letter of donation suitable for tax purposes.

Because the inventory of resale items constantly grows and changes, go to their Facebook page for general inventory updates or just give a call.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have all types of greeting cards (Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc.) to give away, envelopes included.

My number is 207-743-9246. If I do not answer, please leave your name and telephone number.—Bob, Norway

ANSWER: Thank you for sharing your bounty with others. Greeting cards have gotten so expensive and some of us still like the tradition of sending out cards so our friends and family have something personal coming to them through the mail. It is always such a lovely surprise amongst the bills and other mail.
