Race relations in Lewiston will be under the spotlight Wednesday after President Bill Clinton begins a national discussion on race relations.

Mayor John Jenkins will host a local discussion that will begin with the viewing of “One America: President Clinton’s Initiative on Race, The Akron Town Meeting” on C-Span, 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in the City Council Chambers at the City Building. The discussion on race relations in Lewiston and what can be done to improve them will follow. The public is invited to attend.

Jenkins said Lewiston was invited to send in a response by the White House.

“They want to promote communities that work and programs that work,” he said. “We will become one of the test cities to send recommendations to the president and affect positive community change.”
