The Rotary Club of Bethel has been busy serving our communities in so many ways. Although we enjoy the traditions of our “signature” programs, we have had to make adjustments – just like many other organizations and businesses. Here is an overview of what is planned for the next few weeks:

We have loved the tradition of serving the “young at heart” at the annual senior luncheon, but we are needing to take a step back this year. We would like to publicly thank the Good Food Store who has prepared the food for this meal for nearly three decades as well as the leadership of the Locke Mills Legion who have housed the event.

We held a very successful Thanksgiving meal at the Grace Note Inn & Spa to raise funds for the Bethel Food Pantry and it is our hope that those who are in need of food assistance will access those services.

On Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 2 and 5:30 p.m., the Gem Theater is showing the Polar Express, with ticket sales benefiting the Rotary’s Christmas for Children program. Tickets need to be reserved at www.thegemtheater.com and it is “pay as you wish” to ensure that all can afford to attend.

Speaking of Christmas for Children, our goal this year is to raise $20,000 to ensure every family who needs assistance with gift-giving can get the help they need. Requests for assistance for children ages 18 and under may be mailed to Bethel Rotary, PO Box 471, Bethel, ME 04217 or dropped off at any school office in MSAD #44. Please note that assistance is provided only to families who reside in the MSAD #44 sending area and requests can only be accepted from the parents or legal guardians the children live with in a primary residence.
