DIXFIELD — Congressman Jared Golden announced Friday that $514,400 he requested to upgrade the only wastewater pumping station in the area is in the 2023 federal appropriations bill approved by the House and Senate.
“I’m grateful to Rep. Golden for helping Dixfield keep its wastewater infrastructure in operation with this federal investment,” Town Manager Alicia Conn said. “The funds for the Hall Hill Pump Station that Rep. Golden is bringing back to Dixfield will have a positive impact on the community.”
The station, designed to last 25 years, is over 40 years old. It has severe age-related problems, including leakages and nonfunctioning equipment.
Golden toured the station with local leaders in June.
“After decades of serving the water and waste treatment needs of its communities, the Hall Hill Pump Station is in need of critical repairs and upgrades,” Golden said. “I’m proud to secure this funding to get these improvements underway and reduce the cost burden on local families and businesses. This funding will go a long way towards ensuring that Dixfield residents can continue to count on strong, reliable infrastructure.”
The request on behalf of the town was one of the congressman’s Community Project Funding requests. Golden was the only member of the Maine delegation whose request for money was included in the year-end omnibus bill.
The bill passed the Senate on Thursday and is expected to head to President Biden’s desk for his signature soon.
