PARIS — A fire Tuesday destroyed a two-story home on Upper Swallow Road. Three dogs died in the blaze.

The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Office of State Fire Marshal.

Firefighters arrived at 36 Upper Swallow Road about 4:30 p.m. to find flames from the garage and the breezeway of the home, according to Paris Fire Chief Mark Blaquiere.

Upper Swallow Road is a narrow road located near Elm Hill Road.

Tankers were brought in to assist in knocking down the fire. A second alarm was issued but a lack of manpower hampered efforts to fight the fire, Blaquiere said.

Crews assisting the Paris Fire Department included fire departments from Norway, Oxford, West Paris, Greenwood, Mechanic Falls, Sumner and Hebron.

According to town records, the property is owned by Andrew and Miranda Ward; the building was assessed at $163,900.
