MEN’S BASKETBALL
CMCC 97, PAUL SMITH’S COLLEGE 76: Wyatt Hathaway led a balanced Mustangs attack in the YSCC win over the Bobcats in Auburn.
Hathaway scored a team-high 21 points, Boston Caldwell was right behind with 19 and Cam Pollock finished with 10. Central Maine Community College’s other two starters, Jaeden Henderson and DeMarco McKissic, each scored nine.
Mpore Semuhoza added 13 points off the bench and St. Dom’s grad Gabe Carey pitched in with six.
MOSS NAMED PLAYER OF WEEK: University of Maine at Farmington senior guard Terion Moss earned his third MMBCWA Player of the Week honor this season for the week of Jan. 16.
Moss, who was also named NAC Player of the Week on Monday, averaged 22.3 points, 6.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds during that productive week.
BATES’ CRAVITZ EARNS HONOR: Freshman Elliott Cravitz’s efforts help the Bobcats win two games last week, and that helped earn him an MMBCWA Co-Rookie of the Week honor.
In the Bobcats’ 94-65 win over UMaine-Farmington this past week, he had a career-high 15 points. He outdid himself in the second game against Tufts University, scoring 22 points and hitting six 3-pointers, helping deliver a 67-63 win.
Anthony Henson scored a game-high 29 points for Paul Smith’s College.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
CMCC 69, PAUL SMITH’S COLLEGE 45: Mikenzie Melendez scored 21 points to lead the Mustangs (16-2) past the Bobcats in Auburn.
Clara Bandh and Chantel Ouellette scored 13 and 10 points, respectively.
For Paul Smith’s College, Holly Bagley had 10 points.
GRAFF SHOWERED WITH THREE AWARDS: Bates’ Meghan Graff was not only named NESCAC co-Player of the week, but was also honored by two other organizations for her success on the court.
She earned a spot on the D3hoops.com Team of the Week. She completed the trifecta by being chosen the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week. It was the second time she earned that award this season.
COLLEGE SQUASH
BATES’ SPIRO EARNS ACCOLADE: Alec Spiro’s undefeated performance garnered his first NESCAC Men’s Squash Player of the Week honor.
The sophomore Spiro didn’t lose a match at the No. 1 position against Middlebury, MIT and Amherst. He is now 7-5 for the season.
