Irene Yvonne Boisvert

LEWISTON – Irene Yvonne (Deslauriers) Boisvert, 98, of Lewiston, passed away peacefully on Jan. 23, 2023, at VITAS Healthcare and Hospice Center in Rockledge, Florida surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Lewiston on May 18, 1924, the daughter of Josephat and Yvonne Deslauriers, she was educated at École Sainte Marie and graduated from Lewiston High School.

She was employed as a teacher at École Sainte Marie, as an administrative assistant at Murphy Monuments, and as a bookkeeper at Penmor Printing.

Irene married Donat E. Boisvert on March 2, 1946. They had three sons, Raymond, Donat B., and Robert. When the children were young, the family lived first on Lincoln Street Alley then on Frechette Street in Lewiston, spending summers at their camp on Sabattus Pond.

Later, she and her husband enjoyed many happy years at their homes in Five Islands, Maine and Lauderhill, Florida. One of her great joys was hosting gatherings of family and friends on the Maine coast or for winter escapes in Florida.

She was an officer for various social organizations, the Union Saint Jean Baptiste, the Survivance Franco-Américaine, and the Alliance Française. She also served as the secretary for Kenwood Hall of the Lauderhill East (Florida) condominium association.

Her kindness, generosity, and love of family and friends led to many enduring relationships. She was beloved by all who were fortunate enough to have met her.

She was predeceased by her husband, Donat E. and her son Donat B. Survivors include sons Raymond and wife Jayne of Five Islands; Robert and wife Deborah of Revere, Mass.; former daughter-in-law Christine of Sidney; six grandchildren: Alexander, Daniel (and wife Heike), Phillip, Janelle Swank (and husband Ronnie), Sylvie (and partner Derek Rancourt) and Justin; and five great-grandchildren: Charlotte, Leo, Benjamin, Caitlin Swank, and Emma Swank; goddaughter Amanda Auger of Auburn, along with several nieces and nephews.

She will be interred with her husband in the Veterans Cemetery in Augusta, Maine following a brief ceremony later this summer. Condolences may be expressed at Island Cremations and Funeral Home.

The family requests in lieu of flowers that a donation in her memory be made to a charity of your choice.
