Donald Laureat Boutin

AUBURN – Donald Laureat Boutin of Auburn, died on Wednesday, Jan, 18, 2023, in Lewiston. The only child of Joseph and Maria Boutin, Donald was born on Sept. 29, 1947, in Lewiston.

Donald was a member of the Lewiston-Auburn Jaycees during the 1970s and 1980s, where he took part in planning local events such as the Fourth of July celebration and March of Dimes walkathons. Donald was an avid New England sports fan and enjoyed playing golf.

During his early career, Donald worked at Pioneer Plastics and Quoddy Moccasin. However, his real passion was entrepreneurship. He founded Energy Barn, a solar panel dealership, in the 1980s, as well as several real estate businesses.

Donald was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Maria Boutin; as well as his wife Gayle Boutin. Donald is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Todd and Lori Marquis Boutin of Mechanic Falls, his son Troy Boutin of Auburn, his daughter and son-in-law Jill and Damon Sanders of Stafford, Va.; his cousin MaryAnne Wearing of Auburn; and five grandchildren, Colin and Ellen Marquis Boutin of Mechanic Falls, and Joseph, Joshua, and Elizabeth Sanders of Stafford, Va.

The family has chosen to forego a public memorial service.
