(from a Sun Journal photo) Heroes honored recently by the Freeport Rescue Unit for their heroism are Grant Bacon, 8, left, and Blaine Bacon, 6, right, pictured here with their dad, Blaine Bacon, right, and Freeport Rescue Chief Paul Conley, left. The boys were returning home from Freeport with their dad and a younger brother and sister when their dad experienced a severe allergic reaction. The boys remained calm, caring for their younger siblings, helping their dad call for help, preparing his medication and ensuring that he took the medication. Both boys are homeschooled and want to be EMTs like their dad when they grow up.
