Lovell Lions Club is scheduled to hold the annual Norris Bennett Memorial Scholarship Fund Fishing Derby from 5:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12.

The event will be held on Pleasant Point Road, Pleasant Point, Center Lovell.

Prizes:

• Biggest Togue, from Kezar Lake only: First Prize is $1,500, second $500, third $300, fourth and fifth $100 each.

• Age 15 and younger: First Prize $100, second $50 and third $20 — Biggest “Any Fish.”

No salmon are allowed to be taken from the lake, according to the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.

A Kids’ Casting Contest is planned for 11:30 a.m.; prizes will be awarded to all participants.

All participants must register at the event, unless they have purchased a ticket in advance. The registration fee is $25.

All registrants are eligible for door prizes. Door prizes will be announced during the event.

The raffle awards will take place at 4 p.m. The cost of the raffle ticket is $25 each or five for $100. One of the items that will be raffled is a six-foot by 10-foot Snow Pro fishing shack provided by Scott’s Recreation, with an estimated value of $6,300. Tickets can be purchased at the Lovell Hardware store, 411 Main Street in Lovell, or by calling 207-928-9023. Purchased Derby Ticket owners are eligible for door prizes. Winners will be announced during the day.

The food booth menu includes hot dogs, hamburgers, chili and corn chowder. Ample parking will be provided.

Money raised from the derby will provide four $1,000 scholarships for Fryeburg Academy seniors. Additional funds will enable the Lions to provide assistance to families in need for medical or other unforeseen expenses, according to a news release from Gary Heroux, club member.
