AUBURN — Safe Voices will be hosting a Grown-Up Book Fair on Feb. 16 at the Hilton Garden Inn Auburn Riverwatch, 14 Great Falls Plaza. The event will begin at 5 p.m. and finish at 8 p.m.

According to Grace Kendall, the event is geared toward adults “who grew up in the 80s and 90s and remember the Scholastic Book Fair from when we were kids.”

Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the event, or online at the URL bit.ly/SV_Books. Tickets are $28 apiece and will include one drink ticket for a signature Grown-Up Capri Sun [alcoholic and nonalcoholic versions available] from the bar, all-you-can-eat popcorn, a free Polaroid snap from the photo booth, as well as a shopping bag.

The event will feature books sold by Quiet City Books in Lewiston and Devaney, Doak & Garrett [DDG] from Farmington.

Kendall also added, “We invited the Lewiston Public Library, the Auburn Public Library, and then the Turner Public Library to come and have used book sales and all that money goes back to them, whatever they sell.”

The event will also feature authors Lynn Steger Strong, who will be selling and signing copies of her new book Flight, and Melody Paul, who will be selling signed copies of her books Wellness and Walking the Recovery Road. Poet Lynne Schmidt will also be selling signed copies of her books, which include Dead Dog Poems and Sexytime.

All vendors at the event are locally based.

Artist J. Anthony Fiori will also be in attendance and will be drawing caricatures in real time for those who attend. Other artisan vendors will be present, selling items ranging from stickers from Jacki Cone Ink of Saco and 2Birds1Pencil to polyhedral dice sets Runic Dice of Scarborough.

All ticket proceeds will go to Safe Voices. For more information, please contact Safe Voices at the website safevoices.org or call their administrative office at 207-795-6744.
