LEWISTONDr. Lori Tishler has joined Community Health Options as its chief medical officer, responsible for overseeing all of Health Options’ clinical strategies and medical management initiatives.

Her appointment was effective Jan. 23. She reports to president and Chief Executive Officer Kevin Lewis.

“Dr. Tishler brings a commitment to mission-driven care that fits perfectly with our DNA,” Lewis said. “Her leadership and experience, along with her keen understanding of provider and payor perspectives, give her the ideal background to lead the clinical stewardship of our plans, while improving health outcomes for our members, with a strong focus on preventive care.”

Tishler joins Health Options after serving as senior vice president of medical services at Boston-based Commonwealth Care Alliance, which provides health plans for those with the most complex health care needs. She led a team that provided direct, consultative and programmatic medical support in several areas, including care management and primary care for those with complex medical and behavioral needs.

Earlier, she served as medical director at the Phyllis Jen Center for Primary Care, and as associate medical director for utilization at Brigham and Women’s Physician Organization, both in Boston. She’s also an assistant professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School.

Tishler earned her medical degree at Harvard Medical School, a master’s degree in health policy and management at the Harvard School of Public Health, and a bachelor’s degree from Harvard and Radcliffe colleges.
