DEAR SUN SPOTS: I am cleaning out closets, etc. and have clothing and household items to donate such as ladies coats, dresses, blouses and slacks, kitchen items, and bedding. Most of this stash is nearly new.

I’d like to give to a few places in the L-A area and know you have nonprofits listed in your Rolodex that I may not be familiar with as I haven’t donated in quite a while. Can you please print your list? — Mira, Auburn

ANSWER: In the Rolodex I have Androscoggin Hospice Thrift Store (https://androscoggin.org/get-involved/hospicethriftstore/) at 245 Center St., Suite 2, in Auburn. The store is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and donations are accepted Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The number is 312-5092. Angel’s Wing (https://www.facebook.com/anangelswing) at 1567 Lisbon St. Suite A at the Auburn Mall is open Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The number is 241-0624. Loaves and Fishes Hidden Treasures (https://loavesandfisheshiddentreasures.org/) at 850 Lisbon St. in Lewiston is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Call 333-5100. They will work with you to schedule a drop-off time or even pick up your items.

Readers, if you know of other nonprofits in the area that accept clothing and household item donations, be sure to write in so the Rolodex can be updated.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Could you please list shoe repair businesses closest to the Lewiston-Auburn area?  Also, is there a way to search online for a particular topic you have written about? Thanks for all your wonderful information. — No name, Poland

ANSWER: Paul’s Shoe Repair is in Lisbon at 350 Lisbon St. The phone number is 514-6800. On the website, it lists Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Other Sun Spotters have recommended Paul often!

The best way I know to search for a Sun Spots topic is to type it in your browser like so (I used the example of shoe repair): sun journal-sun spots-shoe repair.

This may also be helpful—go to https://www.sunjournal.com/lifestyle/sun-spots/. You will see the most recent Sun Spots columns. As you scroll down, you will see 1 2 3…Next Page. DEAR SUN SPOTS: I subscribe to Sun Journal home delivery and from time to time in the Sunday paper the Hannaford flyer is missing, plus sometimes the funnies are missing also. I have not received Parade Magazine for some time. Has this been eliminated from the Sunday paper? — No name, Farmington

ANSWER: Like so many publications, Parade Magazine has gone to a digital format only as of November 2022. You can find it here: https://parade.com/. I know it will take some getting used to, but this website has all of Parade’s usual good information and entertainment plus extras.

If you ever again have other missing inserts or comics, please call customer service at the Sun Journal at 784-3555 and let them know.
