Liam Coughlin scored three goals and Worcester rallied to a 4-3 ECHL victory over the Maine Mariners on Friday night in Cross Insurance Arena.
The Mariners scored twice in 61 seconds to open a two-goal lead in the first period with Alex-Oliver Voyer and Cameron Askew connecting. Coughlin scored twice in the second, one on the power play, as Worcester tied the game before pulling ahead in the third on Jacon Hayhurst’s goal with 3:10 left.
Coughlin completed the hat trick with an empty-net goal before Chase Zieky closed out the scoring for Maine.
BASKETBALL
G LEAGUE: The Wisconsin Herd reached the overtime target score on a basket by Paris Bass as they rallied for a 118-116 win over the Maine Celtics in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Lindell Wigginton scored 35 points for Wisconsin, which trailed by 17 with less than eight minutes left in regulation.
Mfiondu Kabengele led Maine with 22 points and 13 rebounds before fouling out. Scottie Lindsey added 21 points and nine rebounds, and Kamar Baldwin finished with 18 points, 10 assists and seven rebounds.
NBA: Memphis Grizzlies guard-forward Dillon Brooks was fined $35,000 for shoving a camera person on the sideline after chasing a loose ball in a loss in Miami.
Brooks shoved the person with 2:40 left in the second quarter of Memphis’ 138-119 loss in Miami to the Heat on Wednesday.
GOLF
Adam Schenk shot a 2-under 69 that gave him a one-shot lead Friday at the Valspar Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida.
He was at 7-under 135, one shot ahead of Kramer Hickok, who had a 68. Jordan Spieth posted a 70 and was only two shots behind along with Tommy Fleetwood (69), Cody Gribble (65) and Davis Riley (68), who lost in a playoff to Sam Burns at Innisbrook last year.
EUROPEAN TOUR: Julien Brun took the lead at the SDC Championship at 8 under par before high winds forced the second round to be suspended.
The Frenchman carded a 5-under 67 on the St. Francis Links course but most of the afternoon’s play was lost because of the weather on South Africa’s notoriously blustery south coast. Brun was ahead by a shot from Jens Dantorp, Albert Venter and Matthew Baldwin, who were also early starters and able to complete their second rounds.
LIV GOLF: Marc Leishman holed a series of long birdie putts and even a few big putts for par to post a 6-under 65 for a one-shot lead in the LIV Golf League in Marana, Arizona.
The second LIV Golf event of the season is at The Gallery north of Tucson, where the former Match Play Championship was held for two years. With only one bogey on his card, Leishman led by one shot over Abraham Ancer, Louis Oosthuizen and Matthew Wolff.
Joaquin Niemann, Peter Uihlein and David Puig were at 67.
SOCCER
CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Real Madrid’s path to another title will have to go through Chelsea in the quarterfinals for the second straight year.
The draw takes Madrid Coach Carlo Ancelotti back to his former club. The first leg between the past two Champions League winners will be in Madrid on April 11 or 12.
Manchester City Coach Pep Guardiola also has a reunion with a former club. The English champions will face Bayern Munich. The winner of that quarterfinal will play the Real Madrid-Chelsea winner in the semifinals.
AC Milan was paired with its Italian rival, runaway Serie A leader Napoli, and Benfica will face Inter Milan.
The return games are scheduled for April 18 and 19.
FOOTBALL
NFL: The Dallas Cowboys are re-signing quarterback Cooper Rush as Dak Prescott’s backup on a two-year contract.
Rush signed the deal worth up to $6 million after leading Dallas to a 4-1 record when Prescott was out with a broken thumb last season.
• Buffalo released receiver Isaiah McKenzie to free up about $2.2 million in salary cap space.
• Philadelphia and quarterback Marcus Mariota agreed on a one-year, $5 million contract.
• Indianapolis and quarterback Gardner Minshew agreed on a one-year, $3.5 million contract
• Seattle continued the overhaul of its defense by signing versatile safety Julian Love to a two-year contract and linebacker Devin Bush to a one-year deal.
AUTO RACING
INDYCAR: IndyCar cleared driver Jack Harvey to return to competition following a frightening crash in the season-opening race.
Harvey was briefly evaluated at a Florida hospital following a multi-car crash in the March 5 race on the streets of downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. Kyle Kirkwood launched airborne over the top of Harvey’s car in the crash.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan said Harvey will race April 2 on the oval at Texas Motor Speedway. The British driver missed the Texas race last year because of a concussion diagnosed ahead of the race from a crash earlier in the weekend.
SKIING
WORLD CUP: Norway won the mixed team parallel event at the World Cup Finals in Soldeu, Andorra, after Timon Haugan beat his Swiss opponent Semyel Bissig in the decisive run.
Livio Simonet and Andrea Ellenberger gave Switzerland a 2-1 lead in the final, but Haugan’s triumph handed Norway the victory, as its faster run times broke a 2-2 tie.
