Another Old Port business announced Wednesday that it will close for good this weekend, the third restaurant and bar venue in Portland’s waterfront entertainment district to close in the past four months.
In a post on its Facebook page, Pat’s Pizza, 30 Market St., said it will permanently close Sunday night.
“Final weekend open. Pat’s will be closing for good after this Sunday. Free food Friday, Saturday and Sunday with drink purchase. Getting rid of inventory. While supplies last. Thanks for a great 14 years,” the Facebook post said.
Portland city councilors voted unanimously in January to renew the liquor license for Pat’s Pizza despite recommendations from staff and police to not do so because of the high number of police calls to the location, nearly two dozen over a 10-month period.
The Old Port Tavern on Moulton Street closed on New Year’s Eve, ending a 50-year stay in the heart of a waterfront district known for its lively nightlife and plethora of dining options.
Bull Feeney’s owner and founder, Douglas M. Fuss, closed the popular Old Port restaurant and tavern on March 26. Bull Feeney’s, located at Fore and Exchange streets, opened 21 years ago.
