AUBURN — Jeri Maurer, president of the Stanton Bird Club, plans to give a program titled “Welcome Home, Birds!” at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 16
The talk will be held in the Androscoggin Room at Auburn Public Library, 49 Spring St. in Auburn.
May is the height of the migration season for birds. Many of these birds call Maine home for the breeding season. Maurer will talk about which birds will be settling in for the breeding season and what types of nests they build. She also will ask the audience to try to guess which nest belongs to which species of bird, according to a news release from Donna Wallace at the library.
This program is for teens and adults. No registration is required.
The club has been engaged in conservation work and nature education for adults and children for more than 100 years. It recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of Thorncrag Nature Sanctuary, a 450-acre preserve in Lewiston.
