100 Years Ago: 1923

Mary Dillingham Chapter, D. A. R. will meet at the Y. W. C. A. parlors on Saturday afternoon for their annual meeting. Hostesses for the occasion will be: Mrs. S. E. Sawyer, Mrs. Helen Sleeper, Mrs. Addison Small, Mrs. Alice J. Skolfield, Mrs. John Sturgis, Mrs. H. S. Sleeper. As the meeting will be an important one, members are urged to be present.

50 Years Ago: 1973

Children of grades two through four in Auburn will be introduced to the music of the Portland Symphony String Quartet next week. On Monday, May 14, the quartet will perform at nine o’clock at St. Louis Public school. The following day the group will perform at two o’clock for the third graders at Fairview School.

25 Years Ago: 1998

(BOBBIE HANSTEIN PHOTO) Mallett School first-graders Ryan St. Pierre and Kate Farsaci get a firsthand look at a saw-whet owl held by Dr. James Parker who presented a program about owls, including this one and a great horned owl that also accompanied him. It is part of his Aerie East Environmental Educational Program, based in Farmington. As one part of his work, he rehabilitates injured birds.
