FARMINGTON — Voters in Regional School Unit 9 will go to the polls June 13 to decide on a $41.71 million budget for the coming fiscal year.

The budget was finalized May 23 at the annual districtwide hearing and vote at Mt. Blue High School in Farmington. At that time, board Chairperson Carol Coles described the spending plan as “frugal.”

“We know the costs are up,” she said. “We recognize this budget is an increase over prior years. As with everything, balancing wants and needs is as hard at the district level as it is in our homes.”

The budget, which covers July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, is a 4.3% increase over this year’s $39.99 million. In the past three years it has not gone above 3%.

Voting times and locations are:

• Chesterville: 2 to 8 p.m. at the Town Office, 409 Dutch Gap Road.
