Dale E. Madison

LEWISTON – Dale E. Madison, 68, a resident of Jay, passed away after a sudden illness on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Central Maine Medical in Lewiston. He was born on June 21, 1954, in Corinth, NY, the son of Alvin and Mary (James) Madison.

Dale was a 1972 graduate of Mt. Blue High School. After high school he joined the United States Air Force. On August 22, 1977, in Wilton, he married Renate M. Hoftman. They were happily married for 44 years before her unexpected passing last year.

Dale worked at the Rumford Paper Mill for 37 years before retiring. He was a member of AMVETS Post #333 in Jay, VFW Post #3335 in Jay, the American Legion, Hillside Sports Club in Jay, and the Rumford Falls Eagles #1248 in Rumford. He enjoyed auto and drag racing and anything to do with motorcycles.

He is survived by his son Marco Madison and wife Rachel of Turner; brothers Bruce Madison and partner Kathy Eibert of New York and David Madison of Canton; nephew Jamie Madison and wife Nicole of Auburn; grandchildren Zach and Mayla Madison, sister-in-law Brunhilde Ponds of Germany, brother-in-law Joachim Hoftman and wife Elke of Germany; many nieces and nephews in the US and Germany. A graveside service with Military Honors for Dale and Renate will be held at 12 p.m., noon, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Maine Veterans Cemetery, 163 Mount Vernon Road, Augusta, Maine. Arrangements by FINLEY FUNERAL HOME, 15 Church Street, Livermore Falls, Maine.
