Grace T. Douglass

BETHEL – Grace T. Douglass, 91, of Bethel, passed away after a brief illness at Central Maine Medical Center, on August 23, 2023. She was born in Littleton, NH on Nov. 28, 1931 to Howard and Alice Taylor.

Grace graduated from Gould Academy in 1951. She went on to study Nursing at Mt. Holyoke College in Massachusetts and worked in Boston for a short time.

While at Gould Academy she met her future husband, Richard Douglass. They married on Sept. 4, 1954, and made their home in Portland, York, and Westbrook before finally settling back in Bethel.

Grace held many jobs throughout her life; nanny, chambermaid, nurse, and bus driver just to name a few. She was also a key supporter in the creation of their family business. Her greatest joy was time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson.

She is survived by sons, Bruce of Bethel, Brent and his wife Shelley of Albany Twp, daughter, Beth-Ann and her husband Charles Lusky of Lovell, and daughter-in-law, Gina of Bethel; five grandchildren Braden and his wife Andrea, Bronson, Brianna and her husband Luis, Britany, and River-Ann; a great-grandson Sawyer; and several nieces and nephews.

Grace was predeceased by her parents; her husband Richard; son Brian; sister Ruby, and brother Albert.

At Grace’s request there will be a graveside service only on Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023 at 2 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery North Rd. Bethel, Maine.
