100 Years Ago: 1923
Mrs. Fred H. White entertained the Queen of Clubs at an auction luncheon Wednesday afternoon. A delicious luncheon was served at one o’clock at the New DeWitt. Covers were laid for fourteen and the centerpiece was Ophelia roses. After luncheon the guests motored to Mrs. White’s home at 501 Main street where the remainder of the afternoon was spent at auction. Besides the club members, guests were Mrs. James H. Carroll, Miss Theresa Callahan, Miss Susan Benson and Mrs. Wills P. Atwood.
50 Years Ago: 1973
A training session for persons involved in the Auburn School Department volunteer program was held Thursday morning at Chamberlain School. This group of volunteers are involved in the health phase of the program and the gathering was the first volunteer training session of the school year. Mrs. Pennie Cummings, coordinator of the volunteer program, arranged the session.
