LEWISTON — The Bates College Museum of Art is one of two Maine museums to win recognition by the New England Museum Association in the 2023 Publication Awards Competition.
The competition recognizes excellence in design, production, programming and effective communication in print and digital publishing. The awards celebrate the often unacknowledged outreach and communication work that museums do regularly through print and digital media publications.
This year the competition included 203 submissions from 60 museums. Among those was Bates’ “DeWitt Hardy: Master of Watercolor,” which took first place among exhibition catalogues with a budget under $500,000.
Mount Desert Island Historical Society was also a winner.
Competition winners will be recognized and exhibited at the annual NEMA conference in Portland on Nov. 8-10.
