LEWISTON — Julia Roelofs and Lucy Taylor tallied first-half hat tricks and Bates College fired past Worcester State for an 18-1 win in a non-conference women’s lacrosse game Wednesday at Garcelon Field.

The Bobcats (1-1), playing their home opener, showed their offensive depth beyond Roelofs and Taylor — a Falmouth grad and the lone Maine native on this year’s roster. A dozen other players found the back of the net, and half of Bates’ goals came off assists.

Sadie O’Neil, Laci Raveis and Lauren Wong each netted a goal and two assists for Bates, which led 13-0 at halftime.

Mckayla Fisher scored the lone goal for the Lancers (1-1) with just over five minutes left in the game, making it 17-1. Zoe Schaedle scored the game’s final goal in the last minute.

Bates starting goalie Avery Lehman stopped the only shot on goal she faced, and reserve Raegan White made two saves. Jordyn Bolduc made eight saves for Worcester State.

BATES’ CIMINO MAKES PROGRAM HISTORY: Bates senior captain Chris Cimino was named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week on Wednesday.

He’s the first player in program history to receive the honor from D3baseball.com, which selects players from across the country.

Cimino, a Scarborough native, was chosen for the third baseman position on the team. During the period of games from Feb. 19-25, he was 5 for 8 at the plate with two RBIs, two runs, two doubles and six walks, and also stole a base. He made six defensive assists from the hot corner without committing an error.
