BETHEL — The Wedding Barn at 164 Mayville Road is for sale for $945,000. The property has 5,820 square feet.

The adjacent Victorian home at 162 Mayville Road was recently reduced by $100,000 and is selling for $1,196,000. The house is 5,241 square feet, has eight bedrooms and eight bathrooms and was built by Thaddeus Twitchell in 1813.

According to Randy Bennett in his 1984 book, “Oxford County, Maine: A Guide to it’s Historic Architecture,” in 1881, “the house was moved by Thaddeus Twitchell’s son Samuel Barker Twitchell who turned it 45 degrees and moved it back from the road.

“In its place he constructed the larger asymmetrically-arranged Victorian house which displays many of the characteristics of the Queen Anne style,” wrote Bennett.

In the same book, Bennett wrote, ” the barn is a, “massive cross-gabled barn which remains in unaltered condition at the rear of the property.”

Editor’s note: the properties have different owners and the sales are separate. Weddings bookings are continuing.
