Erika Gardner plants cabbage and other vegetables Tuesday morning at the Whitney Street Community Garden. She and her husband, Marc, have planted plots of flowers and vegetables the past seven years and done maintenance and cared for the exterior of the garden. It is one of numerous Lots to Gardens throughout the Twin Cities. “I’ve planted three types of tomatoes this year, but none of them are red,” she said. “We try different things every year.
