BUCKFIELD — Gabe White pitched a two-hitter and the Buckfield baseball team wrapped up the regular season with a 6-2 win over Valley on Wednesday.

The Bucks improve to 7-8 and will be the fourth seed in the Class D South playoffs.

White allowed two hits and two earned runs over seven innings while striking out 10 batters and walking three.

Buckfield’s offense supported him with a five-run fifth inning, then added another run in the sixth. Krosby Harvey led the Bucks with two hits.

Fisher Tewksbury hit a double for Valley (4-10). He also pitched 5 2/3 innings and struck out six batters while allowing four hits.

MT. ABRAM 15, MADISON 0: The Roadrunners celebrated two seniors — Cam Grey and Patton Mitchell — with a win over the Bulldogs in Salem Township.

Mitchell pitched four innings for Mt. Abram (11-5) and had three hits, including a triple. Kaiden Longley and Bryce Wilcox each contributed a double for the Roadrunners.

Griffin Dickey, Matthew Haley and Xavier Estes pitched for Madison (4-12).

TRAIP 8, ST. DOMINIC 2: Colby Christiansen pitched a five-hitter as the Rangers (8-8) upended the Saints (14-2) at Kittery.

Traip grabbed the lead with three runs in the first inning and added four in the second.

St. Dom’s, the two-time defending Class D state champion, will be the No. 1 seed in the D South playoffs.

SOFTBALL
HALL-DALE 16, TELSTAR 0: The Bulldogs rolled to a three-inning mercy-rule victory in Bethel.

Torie Tibbetts and K.J. Greenhalgh led Hall-Dale (14-2) with three hits and a triple each. Karalyn Coro and Jade Graham each chipped in a double.

Ashlyn Donahue started in the circle for the Bulldogs and Lucy Gray went the rest of the way. They combined for a no-hitter.

The Rebels finish the season 2-14.

DIRIGO 4, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 3: The Cougars finished the regular season on a four-game win streak, the latest victory by one run over the Phoenix in Jay.

Both squads are headed to the Class C South playoffs, Spruce Mountain (13-3) as the third seed and Dirigo (12-4) as the fourth.

Cougars pitcher Lana Waite earned the win in a showdown of sophomore aces with Rylee Turner, though both had big games in the circle and at the plate.

Waite struck out nine batters and scattered five hits over seven innings. She also tallied a team-high three hits. Cleanup hitter Aleiah Ward drove in a pair of runs on two hits. Dirigo took the lead in a two-run fourth, scoring when Keira Reny hit into a fielder’s choice and Hannah Hamner singled in a run.

Turner led the Phoenix with two hits while driving in three runs. Jaydn Pingree also had two hits. In the circle, Turner also struck out five batters and allowed four hits in four innings in the circle.

MOUNTAIN VALLEY 18, WINTHROP/MARANACOOK 6: The Falcons opened with an eight-run first inning and wrapped up their season with a five-inning victory over the Black Bears in Readfield.

Layce Boucher’s two-run triple and Madisyn McLean’s two-run double highlighted Mountain Valley’s big first inning.

Boucher finished with two triples, two RBIs and three runs. Ali Mazza drove in three runs on two hits, and McLean and Mallorie Bourret each drove in two runs and scored two. Hayden Chase and Emma Williamson contributed two hits and one RBI apiece for the Falcons (4-12).

Ella Rice led the Winthrop/Maranacook (3-12) offense with two hits, including a double and two RBIs. Harper Fyfe also drove in two runs.

BUCKFIELD 14, VALLEY 0: Carmen Crockett struck out 14 of the 18 batters she faced and drove in four runs in the Bucks’ rout of the Cavaliers in their regular season finale in Buckfield.

Buckfield (15-1) will be the second seed in the upcoming Class D South playoffs, while Valley (8-8) will be No. 2.

Crockett allowed only one hit and walked two batters. At the plate, she tied teammate Brittany Carrier for the game-high in hits with two. One of Carrier’s hits was a double, and she drove in two runs and scored four.

Addison Stevens-Belanger also doubled, while also driving in two runs and scoring twice for Buckfield.
