AUBURN — Dan Gish and Abdijabaar Hersi are two coaches that lead the Elite players in their training. Dan Gish will enter his fifth year as Lewiston High School’s varsity boys soccer coach with an overall record of 45-7-5. This record also includes a state championship season in 2023. AJ, as coach Hersi is called, is an assistant men’s coach at the University of Southern Maine and head coach of Wahda United FC a member of the UPSL. Wahda is in its second year and currently sports a 4-1 record.

Coach Butch Dow runs the goalkeeper school at McG USA for his 16th year. Coach Dow has trained and coached at the club, high school and collegiate level for over 30 years. To his credit he has more than a dozen all-conference and all state players. Assisting him will be Ali Sult who currently serves as one of the women’s soccer coaches at Central Maine Community College.

Elite players are those who will reach the age of 12-16 years-old. The Elite program extends the training sessions from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The McG United Soccer Academy also runs a session for 5-7 year-olds in the morning from 9-11:30 a.m. The 8-11 year-olds are an all day program which runs from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Any player needing a registration brochure may contact Mike McGraw at mmcgraw@lewistonpublicschools.org.

A reminder that there is a discount if registered before July 1. Also there is a discount for the Elite group if there are five or more from the same school team.
