The Tri-Town Optimist Club of Mechanic Falls, Minot and Poland has named Hailey Caron of Mechanic Falls its Regional School Unit 16 student of the month for May.

Caron, an eighth grader at Bruce Whittier Middle School in Poland, is described by her teachers and principal as a a quiet but strong student with a tenacious determination and competitiveness to succeed. She is a hard worker who stays positive and focused with grit, perseverance, creativity and curiosity, according to a news release from Jenny Rose, RSU 16 Adult Education director.
