Scott McDaniel has driven his Super Late Model car to a podium finish multiple times at Oxford Plains Speedway this season, but he had yet to be there with the biggest trophy and the checkered flag.

On Saturday, it was finally his turn.

The racer from Livermore dominated the 50-lap feature and claimed his first victory of the season. Kate Re and Brandon Barker joined him on the podium.

McDaniel’s win also put him in the points lead, ahead of Trevor Sanborn, who finished eighth Saturday.

McDaniel wasn’t the only driver to collect his first feature victory of the season Saturday. Josh Hodgdon (Limiteds), Jeff Libby (Rebels), Ryan Cotton (Crusiers) and Logan Spencer (Thunder Stocks) also were first-time 2024 winners.

Jordan Russell (Street Stocks), Corey Morgan (Mad Bombers) and Jaxson Moreside (Rookies) were repeat winners.

Oxford Plains has a busy weekend coming up, with a 100-lap SLM race as part of Saturday’s slate that is a qualifier for the Celebration of America 300 in July, and a pair of 150-lap features for the Pro All Stars Series SLMs headlining Sunday’s racing schedule.

WISCASSET WINNERS

Saturday was Group 1’s turn at Wiscasset Speedway, and the Northeastern Midget Association visited with its NEMA Lites racers.

Kevin Douglass was fast all day in the Pro Stocks, winning his heat and then capturing the 50-lap feature with a gap of more than two seconds over runner-up Logan Melcher.

Other Group 1 winners were Kevin Sherman (Super Streets), Zach Audet (Thunder 4 Minis) and John Ricci (4-Cylinder Pros).

Paul Scally topped the field of a dozen NEMA Lites cars.
