MECHANIC FALLS — Voters will decide Tuesday on a budget that is $16,000 less than last year’s.

The $3.59 million spending plan includes a 3% increase in salaries for noncontractual town employees and a $12,453 increase in county tax.

Cuts involve $73,249 in debt service, $49,000 capitol improvements and a decrease in pensions and insurance by $17,701.

The capitol improvement reserve account will have $505,000 for continuing road and sidewalk improvements, equipment and vehicles.

The Budget Committee endorsed the 31 warrant articles to come before voters.

Councilor Darrell Young and Budget Committee member Walter Berry are running for the two open seats on the Town Council.

Anthony Emery and Mark Gary are running for the two seats on the Sanitary District.

Director Patrick Irish is running unopposed for the seat on Regional School Unit 16 board of directors.

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Municipal Building on 108 Lewiston St.
