POLAND — Voters will decide on a $9.4 million municipal budget for the coming fiscal year on Tuesday, which is a 7.67% increase over the current $8.94 million budget.

The amount to be raised by property taxes would be $6.4 million, a 12.51% increase from this year’s $5.7 million.

The capital improvement plan was increased by $300,322. Androscoggin County tax accounted for an increase of $102,000 and an additional $126,000 was allocated in tax increment financing.

The Budget Committee has recommended passage of all financial articles.

Four candidates — Lisa Albee, John Desantis, Jane Pentheny and James Walker, Jr. — are vying for two seats on the Select Board.

Pentheny is an incumbent, Walker served previously, while Albee and Desantis are newcomers.


Selectperson Nathan McNally did not seek reelection.

Incumbent Emily Rinchich and Christina Desantis are running for the two openings on the Regional School Unit 16 board of directors.

Lionel Ferland, Jr. is running unopposed for one of the two seats on the Budget Committee.

Polls will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Town Hall, 1231 Maine St.
