DEAR SUN SPOTS: My heart is so broken. Last Thursday, I lost the silver bracelet my sister gave me. That day, I went to Lisbon Street News and The Italian Bakery in Lewiston; BJ’s Wholesale Club in Auburn; Hannaford, Food City and Bear Pond Variety in Turner; and the Big Apple in Canton. If anyone has found my bracelet, please call 207-562-8400.—No name, no town
ANSWER: Be sure to thoroughly search your vehicle and any bags you were carrying. Also, check back more than once with every establishment you visited that day. I once lost a special watch and found it weeks later — in a box of Cheez-Its!
Another time, I found a pair of much-loved gold earrings in the inside pocket of an old purse after I had misplaced them years earlier.
I also recovered a silver cross necklace when I was cleaning my car. It had fallen off my neck and landed out of view under the passenger seat.
Miracles happen. Do not give up hope.
Sun Spots is a great place to let other readers know you have lost something or found something. Keep us posted.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: Do you have names and numbers of someone who would pick up articles after a garage sale?—Brenda, no town
ANSWER: Depending on what items you have left and where you live, you might want to donate your leftovers. Salvation Army (www.satruck.org) in Lewiston will pick up in some areas. Another choice: Loaves & Fishes Hidden Treasures in Lewiston (207-333-5100).
If you just need things taken to the dump, I highly recommend Dump Guy Junk Removal (www.thedumpguy.com; 207-450-5858). You can call or go online to schedule its services. Or you can send a text message to 207-405-1241.
Other options include: 1-800-Got Junk? (www.1800gotjunk.com; 1-866-919-1213); Rubbish Doctor Junk Removal & Demolition (207-999-5865); Finally Freedom Junk Removal (207-705-8562); and Pine State Hauling and Junk Removal (207-900-1468).
Some of the companies will be sure to recycle and donate responsibly.
Readers, I know there are more local companies that can take care of garage sale leftovers, whether it be to donate them or bring them to a recycling center. Please provide your recommendations.
