The Hutchinson Road over Ridley Brook was washed out and a temporary bridge was installed last year for residents and emergency responders to get through. Three bids were received for that project.

Selectpersons voted to award the contract to Starrett Snow & Landscape Services of Raymond with its low bid of $310,000. Other offers were $375,135 from J Pratt Construction Inc. of Minot and $675,000 from Bedard Excavation of South Paris.

The board also voted to accept J Pratt Construction’s bid of $365,763 to fix Begin Road, the stream crossing reconstruction project. Other bids received for the work were $374,575 from C.H. Stevenson of Wayne and $385,000 from Bedard Excavation.

The Select Board also voted 3-1, with one abstention, to award sole bidder Thomas C. Goding Building Contractor of Jay the contract to fix the south wall and roof of the Public Works sand and salt building for $43,700. The bid for the wall was $31,200 and for the roof $12,500.

Goding, who is a selectperson, didn’t participate in the discussion and abstained from voting.

Selectperson Gary McGrane opposed but gave no reason for doing so.
