COUNTY — The Oxford County Educators Association-Retired, also known as the Oxford County Retired Teachers, held their May meeting at the Congregational Church in North Waterford. The speaker for the gathering was Teresa Drag from Paris. She served our country in the U.S. Marines and is the Post Commander at Floyd A. Harlow, Jr., VFW in South Paris. Her topic was the Quilts for Valor program, a project she is actively involved with. There are Quilts of Valor organizations in all 50 states. People come together and make these amazing quilts to present to men and women who have been touched by war. The quilts are all made with red, white, and blue fabric.

The next meeting of the retired teachers (OCEA-R) is June 21 at Robin Taylor-Chiarello’s farm in Lovell. Directions will be provided when the count is taken by phone for a lunch count. One of the goals of the meeting is to honor the lives and contributions of those who have recently passed away. Sign-ins begin at 10:30, the meeting will start at approximately 11, a lunch will be served at about noon, and the remembrance will follow.
