POLAND — Regional School Unit 16 directors unanimously appointed Amy Hediger as superintendent following an executive session Monday. She begins her new role July 1.
She has served as assistant superintendent since August 2019.
“I am eager to bring my experience and passion to this role, ensuring that we build on our successes and address our challenges with a unified vision,” Hediger is quoted in an email by the search committee.
The search committee was formed in May and included Directors Joe Parent, Randy Lautz, Steve Holbrook, Angela Swenson, Mary Martin and Andrea Winn. A small number of applications were received and only one met criteria established by a survey among staff and community members, according to the committee. There were 168 responses to the survey.
RSU 16 includes Poland, Mechanic Falls and Minot.
Hediger succeeds Todd Sanders, who resigned May 13 and has taken a job with the Central Lincoln County School System that serves Bremen, Bristol, Damariscotta, Jefferson, Newcastle, Nobleboro and South Bristol.
